Jamaica Sandals Trip Advisor
Posted on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 at 8:29 amhas anyone ever been sandals whitehouse in jamaica?
my boyfriend and i just booked a trip to sandals whitehouse, and was wondering how it was? i read lots of reviews on trip advisor and heard mixed reviews and am somewhat worried after reading them. i heard different things about the food as well as the hideous drive to the resort from the airport. Please, give me as much info as possible!! thanks!
Yes, the drive from Montego Bay Airport is rather ‘scenic’. Its much better than a drive from Kingston though! If you can afford it, chartering a helicopter from Montego Bay Airports might not be a bad idea. It would cost you about $300-$500. The whitehouse resort already has a nice Heli landing zone.
The resort is beautiful overall. Its as well put together as a sandals resort is supposed to be. The environment is more peaceful and more secluded.
Personally, my major worry was the beach. The seas in this ‘south coast’ location can make swimming more hazardous than it would be in other Sandals locations in Jamaica. An expert swimmer would be less worried but should still take heed.
If you are interested in getting a bit of club life outside the resort, there would be VERY little available to you in the whitehouse area. Mobay, Negril and Ochi are all better where this is concerned.
If you are going to do any sightseeing, the resort is relatively close to the Appleton Estate, home of the world famous rum. You should check out the factory tour. Sample some of the product and buy spirited gifts to carry home.
You can also visit the pelican bar. its a bar and restuarant in the middle of the ocean somewhere off the south coast. its a little distance away from the hotel, but perhaps the hotel boat might make regular trips there.
Carry bug spray.
