Prom Shoes That Really Stand Out

This year, many girls are opting for shorter length prom dresses, instead of the common floor-length gowns, and spending more time and effort on finding the perfect prom shoes. It is easy to choose a style that compliments the dress you have chosen, and this year many prom-goers have decided to sport a shoe that really stands out. When it comes to shoes it is easy to have fun with the style and color and let go of all of your inhibitions!

If you really want to make sure that everyone notices your awesome shoes at prom this year, look for styles that have hints of jewels or rhinestones on them. Jewelry is not just for your body anymore! Shoes that sparkle from rhinestones can pick up light as you dance, and as an added bonus, they are easy to clean in case the weather for your prom is less than perfect. If the thought of jewels is a little too over-the-top for you, go for a metallic shaded shoe instead. Match your jewelry with silver, bronze, or even gold shoes. Gold is a favored color and style in 2009 and a perfect gold heel or flat will stand out and looks great with any color dress.

You can also make a statement by choosing a brightly colored shoe. Prom 2009 is all about vivacious, bold color choices. In the past, most girls stuck to white or black shoes or chose to get them dyed to match their dresses. This year, do not be afraid to make a statement with audaciously colored shoes. Some girls are even opting to wear sneakers, crocs, or flip flops to prom depending on the garment that are wearing. These choices, however, will get a lot of attention and give you an overall casual look.

If you are not ready for the attention an unusual shoe can bring you, you may instead want to try a peep-toe shoe or sandal and opt to getting a pedicure with some outlandish nail polish to spice up your look. If you plan to wear an all-black gown with gold jewelry, leopard animal print toe nails could complete your look and bring out subtle hints of your wild side!

You can also make a statement with the heel of your shoe. It does not matter how tall or short you are; a very high heel can look stunning on any height. As a word of caution, if you choose to go for a bold statement with a super high heel, make sure that you practice walking in the shoes often before the prom. You do not want to turn your ankle as you are walking in your promenade, and you definitely want to be able to dance without worrying about having to take a trip to the emergency room.

Lastly, if you want to stand out at the prom with some great shoes, do not be afraid to purchase a basic white pair and embellishing them yourself to fit your own style. For example, you can purchase rhinestones, fake flowers, beads, and more at your local craft supply store and go crazy with a bottle of glue. Make your own ruby red slippers with some glitter or attach small LED lights to the tips for a funky, fun look that will catch everyone’s eye as you are dancing the night away with the coolest shoes on the dance floor.
