What sort of shoes should I bring to Europe?

I am going on a backpacking trip so space is VERY limited.
I am already bringing out pair of good quality walking sandals, and another tiny pair of sandals for showers and the beach.
It seems foolish not to bring real shoes, but I already am bringing a pair of sandals that work for walking long distances, and its summer…
Any suggestions?

Maybe a pair of shoes that aren’t sandals? Like walking shoes that look like sneakers. Merrell has some nice ones. They’ll probably be more comfortable and keep your feet warm. It can get cool at night. You could wear them and keep the sandals in your bag because they would take up less room.
