Sandals or “Scandals” resorts?

I’m in the beginning stages of planning for my wedding/honeymoon, and am contemplating a “weddingmoon,” at a Sandals resort. But after reading some verrrry bad reviews on Trip Advisor, I’m so confused, because there were also tons of great reviews as well. I know you can’t believe everything you read and some people are just complainers but several reviews say the same thing. Are there comparable resorts that offer similar wedding packages?

I have not been to Sandals yet I have done A LOT of travel to many Caribbean Isalnds. During my travels, everyone I have met that has been to a Sandals resort, said they would not go back. They said that for the price it was not worth it in terms of the quality of the resorts, the food and the beverages.
I have been to the following places and, based on the resorts I have stayed in and the things I have heard about Sandals, I would personally never go to one… not for the money they charge;
Antigua, Guadaloupe, Grenada, Grand Cayman (4 times), Aruba (3 times), Jamaica (2 times), St. Maarten, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, Turks and Caicos, Curacao, Barbuda, St. Kitts… that’s all I can think of right now.
I would say to decide what you want out of the ‘weddingmoon’ (that’s cute) and read reviews of other such resorts.
The resort HAS TO BE good because most places you go, you’re strongly advised not to go outside the resort because of people who live there year round. Every place I have been to and been warned not to leave the resort, I have regreted each time I did.
The only two places I have been where I did not have a problem leaving the resort is Grand Cayman and Aruba.
Hopefully this will help… at least give you something to think about.
